Who we are

Elmer Backpacks makes backpacks for little Elmer fans.

Elmer the Patchwork Elephant has been loved since Andersen Press first published David McKee's book in 1989, with over 12 million copies sold around the world.

 

Our four officially licensed bags bring his colourful patchwork to the school run, the nursery gate and days out:

• the Plush Travelling Elmer Backpack with Reins

• the Hello Elmer Toddler Backpack with Reins

• the Cuddly Elmer Backpack with Plush, with a detachable Elmer plush toy

• the Rainbow Elmer Backpack with Detachable Purse

 

Each one is made from recycled materials. In 2025 the Elmer the Elephant Backpack Collection won Bronze for Best Travel Product (For Children) at the Junior Design Awards.

Elmer Backpacks is run by Milk Design Ltd, a design studio in Manchester.

We pack and send every order ourselves.
